Background
The Speakeasy is a registered charity, which was set up in 1992 when our trustees became aware of the increasing number of people in the local area who were becoming trapped in financial hardship and debt.
Recognising that in order to escape from this debilitating cycle, people often need specialist help and advice, they launched a free legal advice and representation service: the Speakeasy.
Sixteen years on, a team of caseworkers, including qualified solicitors, delivers our debt and welfare benefits service in the main office in Cardiff and at advice surgeries in deprived areas across South Wales in Blaenau Gwent and Rhondda Cynon Taff.
