The majority of the Speakeasy’s clients live within the most disadvantaged communities of Wales. Many of our clients also suffer from problems associated with poverty, including poor housing, poor health, little social engagement, high incidences of family breakdown, stress, anxiety and depression.
The Speakeasy seeks to offer practical support to clients, helping to release them from financial hardship and poverty, and to facilitate their monetary independence, improving the quality of their lives and bringing benefits to local communities.
Respect and Reputation
Over time, the Legal Services Commission has recognised the incredible need for our work and has invited the Speakeasy to set up advice surgeries in several particularly deprived areas due to no or very few local advice services on debt and welfare benefits being available to local residents.
We have built up a good reputation in the locations where we work and are widely respected in the local community and the wider area.
Without us, many people would have nowhere to turn.
