The Churches Together Shop is a shop, Cafe and drop-in lounge area run by a collective of local churches in Cyncoed, Llanedeyrn, Pentwyn and the surrounding area. Based in the Maelfa shopping centre, it is easily accessible for residents of Llanedeyrn and is on a frequent bus route (57/58) serving Pontprennau and Pentwyn.
Llanedeyrn and Pentwyn are areas identified in the Welsh Multiple Index of Deprivation (2008) as in the top 10% most deprived areas in Wales. A founding member of Speakeasy is involved in the work of Churches Together and saw an opportunity for working together to provide advice in Llanedeyrn, providing a valuable service to the community and helping to boost community activities in the Maelfa, a once thriving shopping centre that now has many closed down and empty shops.
